Upholstery Cleaning

Pre-inspection, Measuring & Fabric Assessment

Before cleaning, the technician inspects each piece of furniture: fabric type (synthetic, cotton/linen, velvet, delicate, etc.), construction (removable cushions or fixed, seams, seams condition, backing, padding), degree of soiling, visible stains/spills, odors, wear/tears, presence of pet hair or allergens.

We will then measure the area to be cleaned and provide you with the price to properly clean your upholstery.

Pre-vacuuming, Brushing & Loose soil removal

Before applying any moisture, a technician will brush and/or vacuum the upholstery. This helps remove loose dirt, dust, pet hair. This is important because such dry soil can “mud up” when wet.

This step reduces the burden on the wet-extraction phase and helps avoid re-soiling or residue build-up.

Pre-treatment & stain-spot treatment (if needed)

For visible stains (spills, pet stains, food stains, grease, spots, etc.) a pre-spray is applied. For more stubborn stains, a stain remover or specialized fabric-safe agent might be used, allowed to dwell for a while (often a few minutes), and gently agitated (with soft brush or agitation tool) to loosen stain before extraction.

For odor issues (pet odors, smoke, etc.), sometimes additional cleaning or neutralizing agents might be applied. The steam cleaning helps because the heat and moisture can break down odor-causing residues and kill bacteria/allergens.

Hot-water extraction (Steam cleaning / deep cleaning)

With a truck-mount extraction machine, hot water (often mixed with mild, upholstery-safe cleaning solution) is sprayed into the fabric fibers and cushioning, and simultaneously a powerful vacuum extracts water, cleaning solution, and loosened soil. This deep-cleaning method reaches down into the upholstery, removing embedded dirt, allergens, oils, dust, pet dander, etc.

For deeply soiled or heavily used furniture (e.g. sofas with pets or kids, or older upholstery), the cleaning might be more intensive, possibly include cushion removal and cleaning if fabric/backing allows, or extra attention to seams, cushions, and underneath depending on furniture design.

After The Cleaning

After extraction, cushions may be repositioned to provide good airflow. Removable cushions are separated so air can circulate. Technicians might advise leaving cushion covers slightly open (if removable) or lifting them to help air flow.

For drying acceleration, use fans, open windows (if weather allows and not while raining), run HVAC (heat or air conditioning depending on season), or use dehumidifiers. Good ventilation significantly speeds evaporation of residual moisture.

Until fully dry, please avoid sitting on or using the furniture. If absolutely necessary, use protective coverings (clean towels or sheets) and avoid heavy pressure on cushions.
