Pet Odor & Stain Removal

Good Morning Steam Cleaning treats pet stains and odors in carpet and upholstery for homes across Yamhill, Polk, and Marion Counties, Oregon. Visible pet stains get a pre-spray, and for pet odors additional cleaning or neutralizing agents may be applied before truck-mounted hot water extraction. In some cases, a sub-surface extraction tool may be used to pull pet urine out of both the carpet and the underlying pad. Some pet stains may require more than just a cleaning, so be sure to speak with us about those specific needs.

Pets on Cleaning Day

What should I do with my pets during carpet cleaning?

We love animals, but they don't love our loud machine — and we must be able to keep the door open while cleaning. We ask that you please arrange for them to be in a safe, quiet space. If they are friendly, we are happy to meet them prior to starting the clean, and then they can be put away. The last thing we want is for your precious fur baby to run away.

Let us know how you'd like to handle your pet ahead of time to keep them safe and happy.

Pre-Treatment for Pet Stains & Odors

How are pet stains and odors pre-treated?

For visible stains (spills, pet stains, food stains, grease, spots, etc.) a pre-spray is applied. For more stubborn stains, a stain remover or specialized fabric-safe agent might be used, allowed to dwell for a while, and gently agitated to loosen the stain before extraction.

For odor issues (pet odors, smoke, etc.), sometimes additional cleaning or neutralizing agents might be applied. The steam cleaning helps because the heat and moisture can break down odor-causing residues and kill bacteria and allergens.

Sub-Surface Extraction

How do you get pet urine out of carpet and padding?

Our truck-mount machine heats water and injects the hot water and cleaning solution into the carpet fibers. The combination of heat, water, and cleaner helps dissolve and loosen embedded soil, dirt, allergens, oils, pet dander, and residues.

In some cases, a sub-surface extraction tool may be used to pull trapped water, pet urine, or soap residue directly out of both the carpet and the underlying pad.

Set-In & Recurring Stains

Why do some pet stains need more than a cleaning?

Enzymatic cleaning solutions break down organic matter in urine and feces, eliminating odors at the source. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, which can attract pets back to the same spot.

For older or recurring stains, professional-grade extraction methods deliver superior results. Some pet stains may require more than just a cleaning so be sure to speak with Good Morning Steam Cleaning about those specific needs.

Pet Zones & Between Visits

How often should homes with pets have carpets cleaned?

Living rooms, hallways, and pet zones harbor the most buildup. Our professionals slow down and focus in these spots to maximize extraction of embedded debris.

Residential carpets should be cleaned at least every 12 months. If you have children, pets or suffer from allergies, every 6–12 months is recommended.

Between visits, blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Work from the outside edge inward to absorb the moisture and prevent it from spreading or soaking further into the padding.
